About us.
Our Mission at Happy feet for kidz foundation is to tackles one of the most visible signs of poverty in Africa, by providing disadvantaged children and children in need, school shoes to attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play, and thrive.
Our vision is that, one day, every disadvantaged child in Nigeria who needs shoes gets new shoes, allowing all children the opportunity to reach their highest potential with pride.
Shoes keep people healthy, happy and thriving. For many low income families, walking is the primary mode of transportation and when someone doesn’t have shoes, it’s not just their feet that suffer, other things such as :
Vulnerable to disease – Every day millions are exposed to unsanitary conditions that can lead to sickness, even death. Every day millions are exposed to unsanitary conditions that lead to diseases. These diseases may lead to sickness, even death.
Unable to attend school – Children often don’t meet uniform requirements in order to attend school and are unable to receive an education. They also keep children out of school leaving them without an education and continuing the cycle of poverty.
Loss of dignity – Without something as basic as a good pair of shoes, people often feel hopeless and discouraged
A sure way to identify the less privileged in society is to take a look at their feet. Even when they manage to get passable outfits, their shoes tell a different story. Donation drives for necessities for indigent children abound in our society but there always appears to be a shortfall in the shoe department (too few and most times, the few are hand-me-downs and therefore not durable).
The comfort and confidence that a good pair of shoes bestow on the wearer cannot be underestimated. This is why at Happy Feet for Kidz (HFFK), we believe that if you give a child the right shoes, they can conquer the world, as good shoes grant children the courage to walk through life’s challenges as conquerors.
How We Make A Difference…
Each year with the approval of the department of education, we select a public low- income school and partner with Bata shoes Nigeria, we work directly with schools to provide all students in that school a properly fitted pair of school shoes.
Some of the children we assist have NEVER had a new pair of shoes of their own. Our foundation truly makes a difference to disadvantaged children whom don’t have a single properly fitting pair of shoes to call their own, and to children who miss school because they don’t have shoes or share a single pair of shoes with other family members.
If something as simple as having a new pair of properly fitting shoes can brighten a child’s day, positively affect their growth and development and even keep them in school.
HFFK IS building a better Foundation one foot at a time!
